secret saliva

can i tell you a secret i haven’t told anyone?

if i tell you a secret, will you keep it?

it’s on the tip of my tongue

bittersweet

i wanna spit it out when you’re too close to me

the spittle mists your face

and you don’t wipe it away

you bend your ear into my mouth

toward the force of my voice

barely a whisper

you soak in my secret saliva

and i don’t have to keep it anymore

trapped between my teeth and burning the roof

my hair is on fire

i chew my bottom lip

eager to spit

the secret saliva heals wounds

you invite my spit

you drink it

i would drink your spit too

tell me your secrets
