Memoir Writing & Editing Services

I want to help you tell your story.

I am a freelance writing coach and certified editor. I specialize in memoir, and I work with writers at any stage, whether you have a first draft, a completed manuscript, or just an idea. My editing services include editorial reviews, proofreading, light or heavy copyediting, and developmental editing.

My approach is artistic, story-focused, and collaborative. I help writers stay true to their vision and clarify their voice, while strengthening structure, character, pacing, and prose to make a compelling narrative. We will use various methods to write, rewrite, and/or edit together; stream-of-consciousness sprints, word exploration & poetic verse, visual & invisible elements (colors and senses), one-line self-portraits, symbolism, and oral tradition.

I also offer interior book design to writers interested in self-publishing. I consider the manuscript’s aesthetic, including formatting, typesetting, and content organization to enhance the reading experience.

  • "High artistic merit + authentic creative voice."

  • "Every time I read something from you, I am inspired by your depth. You know how to go to the end of a thought or feeling, and then plunge just a little further. It's incredible. I'm sure it may feel exhausting for you sometimes, but to read it and to see it is beautiful. You know yourself, your depth, your dimension better than most, I would imagine. So many seem to be asleep to who they are, and you're friends with your shadow."

  • “Being able to freely share is liberating. As I began to write, and work with Elizabeth, I started to peel back layers of myself, like an onion. I discovered some not so great feelings and kept censoring myself. I panicked and told Elizabeth I couldn’t continue but she is a great cheerleader. I wrote about my warts and all, and she didn’t flinch.”

  • "I just finished I Was a Good Wife: A Self-Portrait. I love your voice in the writing. At times I was taken by the words, and at others (fewer than I thought) I heard your speaking voice. Your writing voice is different than your speaking voice. I like how you choose words and the story just flows. It was easy to read."
