Creativity has changed my life.

Memoirtistry was born in December 2020.

I was surprised when I searched “memoirtistry” and generated zero Google results. The discovery of an original idea led me to trademark Memoirtistry, which took three years to process.

Memoirtistry is the blending of two words, “memoir” and “artistry”; it begins with “Me” and is focused on “Memory” as the source for expression.

Memoirtistry was first a podcast.

I began a stream-of-consciousness podcast; verbal ventilation is one of the ways I process my experience. When I didn’t have the voice, or needed privacy with my thoughts, I shifted my attention to writing.

I publish my first memoir, I Was a Good Wife: A Self-Portrait.

Divorce triggered me to write the book I was always saying I was going to write, and Covid gifted me the time. After publication, I needed a break from writing.

For this book, I hired a book designer to support me in the process.

This book was unpublished and removed from Amazon in January 2026. It is shelved for editorial refreshment and will be republished independently.

Memoirtistry joins a retail gallery and sells original works of art.

I create one-line drawings and paint my body to smash onto canvas; intuition guides the tools. I enrolled in Milan Art Institute’s online Mastery Program to enhance my skills.

Within Memoirtistry’s first year, I was selling my work in a local art gallery and had my first solo exhibition.

While I no longer have an online shop, admirers can still collect an original by contacting me directly.

Memoirtistry offers writing and editing services.

Before Memoirtistry, I briefly operated as Liz Edits. When I started writing my first book, I paused these services.

After the publication of I Was a Good Wife: A Self-Portrait, I began offering writing and editing services to other writers again, with a focus in memoir. I enjoy exploring creative ways to tell someone’s story.

I even traveled across the country and moved in with another writer/artist to trade services and expand Memoirtistry into performance.

I publish my second memoir, I Left a Stranger: A Coming Out & Into Estrangement.

In my travels, from Washington to Georgia to Pennsylvania, I leave canvasses and framed originals in places I visit marked “Free Art”. I gift pieces to strangers. When I grow out of the stories, it is important I leave them behind.

My second book led me back to poetry, a medium I embraced as a teen. The nine repeating symbols that appear in my art begin to make sense.

For this book, I designed the front and back cover art.

This book was unpublished and removed from Amazon in January 2026. It is shelved for editorial refreshment and will be republished independently.

Memoirtistry includes Art Commentary to engage the community and support local artists.

Memoirtistry’s art commentaries are published in The Commentary by Wick Monet and can be found in newspaper boxes around Pittsburgh.

Memoirtistry partners with mental health professionals.

Memoirtistry is an artist’s response to a formal diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Expressing myself through painting and writing has changed the way I interact with the world; creativity is the medicine I use to ease challenging symptoms.

In addition to co-hosting COMPLEX, I am a Certified Forensic Peer Support Specialist (PA) providing services for women with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders who are also involved with the criminal justice system.

My third memoir, I’m Not Wearing Any Pants: Undressing a Diagnosis will be published in 2026.

In this book, I explore the nine repeating symbols in my art and interact with 20 years of writing to reveal the stories they satisfy. There is an element of time travel to my work. Deconstructing religious identity and accepting what has happened to me is easier when I allow the creative flow to guide me.

I am releasing some content in art commentary and on YouTube.

Memoirtistry includes visual elements.

Memoirtistry also utilizes multimedia to enhance creative expression, reveal an artist’s process, share writing prompts and practices, and acknowledge noteworthy performances.

Video allows me to perform a piece in solitude, when an audience may otherwise distract. I employ vocal exercises, sometimes primal in nature, and read poetry and excerpts from my books.

Memoirtistry advocates for teen voices.

Memoirtistry supports writers of all ages and levels.

I have been a writing coach and creative supporter of one student for five years. Now in high school, their voice is developing through poetry and creative writing.

Memoirtistry is a safe platform where they can publish their work while navigating applications and writing opportunities to enhance their resume.
