The Alien
The seventh symbol is queer.
An alien is “of a plant or animal species”, a foreigner among familiars. An alien can be disturbing or distasteful. The unknown and strange being is to be feared. The alien among us are misfits, immigrants, newcomers, visitors, outsiders and therefore shall be relegated to the margins.
if they are pushed to the edges, the majority can be comfortable.
Like attracts like, and those who love to reflect difference are drawn together in the most peculiar ways. Only when there are elements of the bizarre do I find joy accessible. I display as odd, outlandish, exotic, novel, incompatible and unusual, in opposition and direct conflict, with a variance of antagonism, unacceptable at best, repugnant even, hostile yet almost comical because I am still completely r e l a t a b l e to
you.
The alien is the artist, the weirdo, the one who dances on the edge of reason, donning masks of absurdity, performing a true self, inviting us to question norms and embrace off-script living. She is innocent, uninhibited, expressing joy and healing the pain of misunderstanding.
The alien does not care who is watching;
she has nothing to hide anymore.
